Burnout prevention

Featured

If you find that working circumstances reduce your productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful – it is time to make some changes. If you leave the situation unchanged eventually, you may find that  you have nothing more to give. Start now! You can regain your balance by reassessing priorities, making time for yourself, and seeking support.

burnout preventionThere are many causes of burnout. In many cases, burnout stems from your job. However, anyone who feels overworked and undervalued is at risk for burnout—from the hardworking office worker who has not had a vacation or a raise in two years to the frazzled stay-at-home mom struggling with the heavy responsibility of taking care of three kids, the housework, and her ageing father.

The scope of burnout syndrome and the associated economical losses attracted the attention of governments in many European countries. Special programmes have been introduced to create job conditions that promote wellbeing. In Italy for instance there is law imposing an obligation for business to adapt job circumstances to wellbeing regulations.

However, burnout is not caused solely by stressful work or too many responsibilities. Other factors contribute to burnout, including your lifestyle and certain personality traits. What you do in your downtime and how you look at the world can play just as big of a role in causing burnout as work or home demands.  So looking for support – an external point of view – is a good step towards a solution. Coaching might be very helpful in burnout prevention, as it will support you in finding the most convenient and friendly way to regain your life force. You will be invited to discern the most difficult elements in your job situation and to find solutions to deal with them or change them.

If you are eager to do it on your own – check what you can do on different levels and start changing habits that can bring about the biggest improvement.
